St. Kitts and Nevis, a small two-island nation, will celebrate its 41st Independence Day on September 19, 2024. This year’s theme for the day is “A People, Proud and Strong: Independence 41”.
St. Kitts and Nevis government celebrate this day with huge excitement and preparations, including parades, cultural events, and flag hoisting ceremonies. This day celebrates the nation’s unsung heroes and unites the people of this Caribbean region to come together with a portrait feeling.
The festivities will start on August 28 and run till October 27, showcasing various patriotic events for all to enjoy freedom and embrace the culture of St Kitts and Nevis.
During the Mids 1620s, the twin-island nation was controlled by British and French colonies. This was the first Caribbean nation they ruled, and later, this twin island became a member of the British West Indies until gaining Independence on September 19, 1983.
Dr Geoffrey Hanley, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Youth Empowerment, also posted about the events that will be organized on the 41st Independence Day.
The Department of Youth and Empowerment will organize the Youth Independace rally on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the iconic Warner Park in Basseterre. Additionally, celebrating National Colours Day in 3rd week, encouraging the people of St Kitt and Nevis to wear white on this day.
Independence Day celebrations will include lively cultural performances the week before September 19. The Nevis Island administration will host a National Heroes Day Freedom Concert featuring Mr Killa and Torras Riley in the evening starting around 8 pm on September 14, 2024. St. Kitts and Nevis Diaspora Conference 2024 will also be held on this day.
On Sunday, September 15, at 4 pm, the government has organized The National Gratitude and Gospel Concert featuring Marita Francis, Donelle Caines, Blestina Charles, Paige Gumbs Rootz Gospel Band, and many more.
On Monday, September 16, the government will host National Heroes Days to honor the heroes whose contribution to the day is splendid, and without them, this would have never been possible. Following the celebration of Heroes’ Day Observances. The government to host the Wreath Laying & Recognition Ceremony at Sir Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw Memorial Park. Announcement of National Honours and Community Flag Raising Ceremonies is also calended on this day.
Following up on 18th September, the Independence 41 committees will organize a Patriotic Day fair featuring Evolution Sounds, Mr Mention, Ras Kelly, and more at Independence Square.
On 19th September, the Twin Island Nation will celebrate its 41st Independence Day featuring a ceremonial parade held at the iconic Warner Park cricket stadium, Basseterre.
