The St Kitts and Nevis government focuses on the importance of basic safety equipment such as safety jackets, hard hats, gloves, and fire extinguishers.

St Kitts and Nevis government is set to host School Safety Week starting from October 14 to October 18, 2024. The event’s main objective is to spread awareness among children and parents of safety protocols to help them stay prepared for emergencies. During this week, the students will be exposed to various safety-regulated activities like Fire drills, Traffic rules, Earthquake Emergency drills, and more.

Many schools have participated in the event, and for students, this is a very important lesson to have knowledge about safety protocols.

The government is also focusing on the importance of basic safety equipment such as safety jackets, hard hats, gloves, and fire extinguishers. Each school has prepared its own programs that suit and fit its region with a common goal, which is to ensure that students are well aware of how to handle safety threats.

Among the schools, Diane Glasgow Primary School is one of those that has started the safety week with a few very promising programs. The week’s activities in this school began on Monday, October 14, with the official opening ceremony and safety checks around the school.

The school encourages all the parents and teachers to participate in these programs. Following up on Tuesday, October 15, the school is organizing a Road Safety Pedestrian Demonstration so that the students will understand how to follow traffic rules and regulations safely.

The next program is about fire safety. On Wednesday, October 16, the school will show a fire drill demonstration so that students can get hands-on experience. This will help the students be prepared for any fire-related emergency.

At the end of the school safety week, the school will focus on earthquake hazards. The program will involve drills and talks about earthquakes.

Beach Allen Primary School, under the theme ” Safety Starts with Me.” The school wants the students to understand their role in keeping the environment safe.

The first event will start on Monday, October 14, with a special assembly. The safety week will include safety and hazard checkups. Following the next Day, on Tuesday, October 15, the school will have an Earthquake Drill. The event sends a powerful reminder that each and every one of us can make simple efforts to learn about these safety protocols.

On Wednesday, October 16, the school will host a Safety Clean-Up Day as a message to the children about the need to keep the school environment clean and safe.

The school wants the children to learn about safe routes, fire drills, and practicing kindness to prevent bullying and will hold a talk and discussion session on Thursday, October 17.

The School Safety Week will come to an end on Friday, October 18, and the children will be helped to understand the safety procedures through safety demonstrations and exhibitions.
