Nevis: Premier Mark Brantley hailed the team of Nevis Solid Waste Authority for collecting garbage across the island amid the threat of the Tropical Storm Ernesto. He urged the people to extend their gratitude for their selfless service and noted that cleanliness gets important even during inclement weather conditions.
The Premier also saluted Andrew Advizor Prentice and his entire team for their service of cleaning Nevis. He added that sometimes people who serve the most get the least attention as these people are selfless.
He narrated the incident and cited that at the morning, while outside was pouring and the country was locked down awaiting Tropical Storm Ernesto, he looked out his window to see the men of the Nevis Solid Waste Authority collecting garbage in the area.
Premier Brantley asserted, ”Let us celebrate them for being selfless public servants.”
The Nevis Solid Waste Authority has started the cleanliness drive for collecting garbage from different communities. The aim of the drive is to collect the waste from the homes as the citizens are asked to throw their waste in the dumpsters that are provided by Nevis Solid Waste Authority in every community.
In April 2024, the clean mission was held in Lower St John where the teams have gathered to collect the garbage from the bins. Premier Mark Brantley expressed pleasure and stated that the team of the authority has been working great.
Along with that, participants of the SKNDF Coast Guard Sea Cadet Camp journeyed to Gallows Bay, Nevis, to conduct their second beach clean-up, collecting bags of garbage and waste. A total of sixteen (16) garbage bags were filled, totaling 462 pounds of waste removed from the beach today.
In 2022, the Nevis Sold Waste Management Authority received a shipment of 2 brand new garbage trucks and other heavy equipment for the landfill. The aim behind the donation is to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the Nevisian public.
