Antigua Cruise Port welcomed 8707 visitors within a day to explore the island and its natural beauty. The passengers arrived in three cruise ships: Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Eclipse, and MSC Virtuosa.

This increase in tourism helped the small island Antigua generate more revenue contributing to building the nation’s economy.

Additionally, the Carnival UK (P&O Cruises & Cunard) Cruise officially started the cruise season 2024-2025 for the island of Antigua and Barbuda that will bring more than 19,000 passengers throughout the season.

The increase in visitors this season highlights the popularity of the port, travelers’ love for the island and its role in boosting local tourism.

Furthermore, the administrators of Antigua Cruise Port shared on their official Facebook that Celebrity Beyond (3,148 guests), Celebrity Eclipse (2,637 guests), and MSC Virtuosa (2,922 guests) were all visiting the port in a single day.

The island nation’s growing tourism and its capacity to accommodate such a large number of visitors shows its enhanced infrastructure as well as its smooth operational capabilities.

The surge in cruise passengers contributes significantly to the local community, benefitting local businesses, tour guide agencies, and artisans.

Increased activity at the port due to thousands of visitors creates more employment opportunities and economic growth for the small island nation.

Moreover, the third homeporting season of the luxury ship SeaDream II showed the island’s appeal to both boutique and large cruise lines.

Additionally, General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port, Gasper P George and Minister of Tourism, Charles Fernandez emphasized the importance of strategic investments, teamwork as well as the economic benefits of homeporting operations.

This boost in tourism increases the future prospects of the island nation:

  • The Port expects more cruise ships filled with visitors throughout the season from December to April.
  • The visitors can enjoy a variety of tours like beach outings, historical tours, and cultural experiences.

The influx of visitors within a single day successfully demonstrates the port’s capacity and capability to provide exceptional experiences for the visitors and highlighting the island as one of the top cruise destinations of the Caribbean.
