Antigua and Barbuda: The prices of the goods have been changed in Antigua and Barbuda as the revised Price Control Order was gazetted in May 2024. The new prices will come into effect on August 1, 2024.
The prices of the goods such as adult diapers, antibacterial, ointment, bed pad/liner, infant products, personal care items (deodrant, lotion, mouthwash, shampoo and conditioner), fabric softener, sanitary napkins, seeds, tofu, and chunks have been amended for the first time.
The Price Control Order is aimed at providing affordable and accessible goods to the public at fair prices. The goods have been added to the order and the size specifications have been added to the goods in some instances.
Traders and the consumers are also asked to pay attention to the price order and to these goods as all sizes are not covered under the act. The order has included the specific goods and the prices of the goods have also been changed.
There are several sizes of the goods that are not covered under the Price of Goods Act CAP 138 of 1967. The removed goods from the order are sodas, aerated water, mineral water, condensed milk, confectionery, cereal, and other foods with high sugar content.
Additionally, the juices must be 100% juice and below 1 litre as per the new act called Price Control Order based on the provision given under section 3 of the Distribution and Price of Goods Act CAP 138 of 1967.
The government of Antigua and Barbuda added that the traders will be given with a copy from the government printery for $4.70. They must display the revised order prominently in their business so that consumers can access it.
According to the government, the traders and consumers can contact the division and get the full details about the fixed percentage markup of goods named under the Act. The prices will come into effect in August 2024.
